IIM Udaipur moved to its permanent campus on a 300-acre site in Balicha, about 8 kilometres from the old city. The IIM Udaipur campus has classrooms, hostels, mess halls, libraries, WiFi, and other essential functions are fully operational.
The overall design is inspired by traditional fortress architecture, an integral part of Rajasthan's history and culture. The Academic Block is located in the heart of campus, with lakes on two sides and numerous courtyards (inspired by Udaipur's chowks) to take advantage of the numerous views. An imposing plaza near the water serves as a central gathering spot and a backdrop for significant events. The architecture was designed to use as little energy as possible, and a solar power farm will be built on campus to generate electricity. The arid landscape is being rehabilitated in stages over several years, with the campus eventually becoming self-sufficient in terms of water, energy, and waste management. The entire campus has been designed to achieve a GRIHA LD 5 Star rating.
The campus' infrastructure, facilities, and classroom design place it among the best in India and abroad. The campus will allow IIM Udaipur to meet the targets outlined in its Perspective Plan, which calls for approximately 750 students across its programmes by 2020 and 60 permanent faculty members, allowing the university to fulfill its mission of providing leadership in research and teaching, developing responsible leaders, and contributing to the region's development.
